Health Science/Nursing Fundamentals Teacher
Health Sciences is a "completer course". Students interested in any health care career can take Health Team Relations as a freshman, Health Science I as a Sophomore, Health Science II as a Junior and can then apply to take Nursing Fundamentals as a Senior.
Nursing Fundamentals is a very competitive course. It is 2 blocks over the course of 1 semester. Students have to fill out an application and be referred by teachers as well as write an essay and be interviewed. Once the student is in this course, they will complete a required amount of class and clinical hours and receive a certificate for the course and be eligible to take the Nurse Aide State Test to become a Nurse Aide I (AKA: CNA)
I have been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. This is my 5th year at ERHS. Previously I taught the NAII program at RCCC. I currently continue to work part time at RCCC assisting with the Nurse Aide I class there. I am a certified CPR instructor and the students who take Health Science II will receive a CPR certification, a First Aid certification and an OSHA certification. I am married with 3 children, two of which are in college, the 3rd is beginning high school this year. I enjoy the beach and watching sports, especially UNC basketball!
